What is the try dive?
These initiations are experiences aimed at people who want to explore the underwater world for the first time. This activity allows participants to experience breathing underwater and become familiar with diving equipment in a safe and controlled environment, under the strict supervision of a professional instructor.
During a first-time dive with Odysea, instructors teach basics about underwater pressure, sign communication, and equipment use. Participants practice some basic techniques in shallow water before performing an actual dive in the sea.
Although the beach-based introductory dive does not lead to an official certification, it offers an opportunity to discover the beauty and tranquillity of the underwater world off the coast of Tarragona – the perfect setting for those wishing to experience the seabed for the first time. If, on the other hand, as well as trying the experience of diving underwater for the first time, you want to go a little further, with our Boat Dive your experience will be more complete and you’ll descend a few metres deeper. As well as diving directly from the boat, giving you the chance to see more marine life, you’ll also receive a €50 discount if you decide to continue your diving journey and choose to take the next course, the Open Water Diver.
In both activities we will take photos of you underwater, so that you can take home unforgettable memories.
This beach dive is ideal for beginners and is done from the beautiful Torredembarra beach, which is conveniently located in front of our diving center. This option allows participants to gradually become accustomed to the aquatic environment, starting in shallow water and progressively progressing to greater depths under the supervision of an instructor. Gradual entry allows for comfortable adaptation to the equipment and underwater environment.

This small course offers a fuller experience in open water. We first perform exercises at a shallow depth and then a dive from the boat to about 7m.
Beginners travel by boat to a diving point and do their diving from the boat itself, allowing access to dive sites that are richer in life. marine and underwater landscapes. This option offers a more intense experience, ideal for those who want to dive directly into the open sea diving experience.

Requirements
To participate in a try dive there are several mandatory prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 8 years old for the Try Scuba / 10 years old for the Basic Diver.
- Signed parental consent for all minors.
- Sign a consent form: Understand and accept your responsibilities as a diver and what this activity entails.
- Fill in a health state form. If you have specific problems, you will be asked for a certificate from a doctor who will confirm the absence of risk.
These requirements ensure that the experience is enjoyable and safe for all participants.

Technical characteristics of the try dive
The introductory diving course includes a brief theoretical part, where the basic principles of diving are explained, such as underwater communication, equipment management and the effects of underwater pressure. This theoretical session is followed by practice in confined waters to get used to the equipment and learn basic skills such as mask emptying and buoyancy regulation.
The actual dive is done under the direct supervision of an instructor. No previous experience is required, and the complete diving equipment is provided by Odysea. We will also take pictures of you outside and in the water so that you can remember your first experience in the world of diving forever!
