What is a professional recreational diving course?
These courses are training programs designed for people who wish to advance beyond recreational diving, and develop skills and knowledge at a professional level. These courses are aimed at those seeking to make diving their professional goal, whether working as diving guides, instructors, underwater photographers or in other activities related to underwater safety and rescue.
Divemaster and Instructor courses cover a wide range of skills, including advanced diving techniques, emergency management, dive-specific first aid, equipment maintenance and dive planning.
Additionally, at Odysea we also focus on developing leadership and teaching skills, allowing future professionals to safely guide less experienced divers.
To enroll in a Professional course at Odysea, candidates must have prior diving experience and meet certain prerequisites, such as a minimum number of logged dives and prior diving certifications. Upon successful completion of the course, divers become certified as professionals, allowing them to work all around the world!

The Divemaster course at Odysea allows you to advance in the world of recreational diving and take on leadership roles underwater. This comprehensive course is designed for advanced divers, who are seeking to not only hone their diving skills, but also gain the ability and knowledge to lead and guide other divers safely and confidently.
The Divemaster program is divided into two main modules that provide complete and in-depth training. The first module, Diving Guide, focuses on developing practical skills to lead groups. Candidates learn to plan and organize dives, resolve emergency situations and guide diving groups safely in different underwater environments. This module is crucial for those who want to become a Divemaster, capable of ensuring entertaining and safe diving experiences for everyone.

The second module, the Science of Diving, addresses the theory behind recreational diving. Candidates explore topics such as diving physiology, physics applied to the underwater environment and decompression theory. This theoretical knowledge is essential to fully understand the dynamics of diving and make accurate and safe decisions underwater. When acting as a role model, it is also important to know how to talk about these concepts in order to answer questions people might have.
Upon successful completion of both modules, candidates receive the title of Divemaster. This certification not only recognizes their advanced skills and knowledge, it also allows them to guide and supervise dive trips around the world. Becoming a Divemaster is a significant achievement that opens the doors to employment opportunities in the recreational diving industry, allowing you to lead dives, work in dive centers, and contribute to education and marine conservation.
