Diving equipment maintenance

Do you need to service your diving equipment?

Whether you dive every week or go without diving for months, your equipment keeps on wearing out. The springs are still under tension, the O-rings are still compressed, the salt that has entered crystallizes and keeps on causing damage.

That's why a periodic maintenance of the diving gear is essential to guarantee the safety and well-being of the diver at each dive.

We are authorised service technicians for Mares, Aqualung, Apeks, Beuchat and Cressi
Don’t let unqualified people service your equipment – there’s a lot at stake.

ALL diving federations recommend servicing your equipment once a year to avoid problems! This maintenance allows us to preventively change all the parts that have to be changed periodically, but also allows us to identify and correct any problem or poor performance that could put the diver at risk.
Well maintained equipment ensures adequate breathing, controlled buoyancy and mobility, essential elements for safe diving.
Additionally, checking diving equipment boosts the diver's confidence and the dive quality, allowing them to focus on the experience and fully enjoy the underwater environment from the coast of Tarragona and more. This practice also contributes to prolonging the useful life of the equipment, since it allows wear or damage to be identified in time.
Equipment servicing is a crucial practice that not only protects the diver, but also improves the diving experience. At Odysea we put the experience of our team at your disposal to carry out the servicing of regulators, BCDs, tanks and any part of your gear you want to inspect.

Regulator Maintenance

At Odysea we know the importance of a diving regulator in perfect condition, since it is your source of air underwater. During our servicing, we disassemble and examine each component, including the first and second stages, to identify wear or damage.
We replace all o-rings and many other parts every time, we check what else is worn and needs changing and we clean all components to ensure optimal functioning. We inspect all hoses for signs of wear, such as cuts, cracks or bulges. We also adjust the intermediate pressure and flow to manufacturer specifications and perform tests to check air delivery and ease of breathing. This check ensures that your regulator operates safely and efficiently, providing you with a worry-free diving experience.

BCD Maintenance

Although most divers know that regulators must be maintained, few give the same importance to the Buoyancy Control Device, since they do not use it for breathing.
But accidents due to BCD failure can be much more dramatic!
Finding yourself in harsh waters at the end of a dive without being able to inflate to stay on the surface can already be dangerous, but the opposite is much worse! A vest that is stuck inflating can take you up at a very dangerous speed and cause lung overexpansion or other barotrauma. It happens every year!
This is why it is also important to service your BCD periodically, checking the valves and inflator, and making sure there are no leaks.

Tank Maintenance

The tanks are crucial elements of your air supply and must be kept in optimal condition. At Odysea we carry out complete inspections that include internal and external visual inspection to detect corrosion, dents or signs of wear. We also perform hydrostatic testing to check the strength and integrity of the bottle under pressure. Our technicians check valves and replace o-rings and seals. Upon completion, we certify that the bottle meets all safety regulations and is ready for safe use in diving.

Other repairs

Odysea is also here to help you with small repairs, covering a hole in a suit, changing straps on masks or computers, repairing a zipper, etc.
Feel free to show us any failure or damage to your equipment and we will try to help you as best as we can to ensure your comfort and well-being on the next dive!
